Silora Esperance

Silora Esperance, also known as Silo, was born on May 30th, 1931, in the province of Les Anglais. She was the daughter of the late Elina Valcourt and Cedecias Esperance. She had not completed her high school education or attended college but was wise enough to make sure her children were educated.

Silora married Samuel Clervil in 1951. Together, they conceived eleven children out of which, they survived seven. She was a very hard-working woman. She was not only a wife and mother but also a friend, advisor, confident, best friend and everything else in between. As a merchant she would travel both on foot and on horseback from her primary residence in Grandroit to her birthplace of Les Anglais to buy various products for sale. Did you know she was also a butcher? Yes! Silora carried and taught many traits, everyone had to grow-up very fast and cultivate independency, accountability, and responsibility. Like the rest of us, she had her flaws, but she made up for them by being loving, caring, nurturing, compassionate, and selfless.

Our Silo was called home on July 24th 2022 after battling multiple strokes along with other comorbidities. She was surrounded by three of her children, two granddaughters, and her sister in Christ while transitioning.  Silo will be missed by all of us, loved, and remembered. Sibling-wise, Silo was the last to depart this earth. She is joined in heaven not only by her husband and parents but also her siblings, the late Charvane Esperance, Berica Esperance, Rodrigue Esperance, and Mrs. Azere. Her children and grandchildren are saddened by her death but elated that she’s no longer suffering. Deepest love from Bourjolly Clervil, Francoise Clervil, Andre Clervil, Maurice Clervil, Siloreste Clervil, Monfort Clervil, and Erose Clervil. She had welcomed to her family Dieunord Sanon, Rosette Balde, Clermond Dormil, Janvier Noel, Celene Lenescar, Lorcilia Clervil, Brunette, Carmel and the Late Viliane Clervil.

            The void left in our hearts can only be filled by God. Your uniqueness is unquestionable, your love endless, just one of a kind. We love you.
