Marie Gabrielle Bussereth

Gabrielle Medy Buissereth was born on December 20, 1950, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to Idomenee Medy Sr. and Paulette Buissereth. She lived a life defined by resilience, love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family, a woman who lived life on her terms, and who most certainly lived it her way.

Gabrielle and the late Armand Prophete welcomed their beloved daughter, Rachelle Medy Buissereth, an arrival that brought her immeasurable joy and remained one of the greatest blessings of her life.

A gifted seamstress with an exceptional eye for fashion and design, Gabrielle was known for her love of bright, vibrant colors and her natural talent for creating beautiful garments. Her creativity and distinctive sense of style reflected her joyful personality and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She brought that same dedication and pride to every role she held. Gabrielle spent many years at Houbigant, a prominent fragrance and toiletries manufacturer, and later at a book publishing company, where her work helped foster in her daughter a deep love of reading. She went on to work with the United States Postal Service, Home Health Aid and later as a security guard, and through it all, her reliability, commitment, and strong work ethic left just as lasting an impression on her daughter as her love of books had.

Gabrielle proudly realized her dream of homeownership with a house in Willingboro, New Jersey. She later relocated to East Orange and Irvington, New Jersey, before eventually settling in Brooklyn, New York, each move bringing her closer to the family she treasured so deeply.

Beyond her many accomplishments, Gabrielle will be remembered most for her infectious smile, warm spirit, and wonderful sense of humor. She cherished her family above all else and found her greatest joy simply spending time with those she loved. Her home was always filled with laughter, love, and music, especially the timeless songs of Julio Iglesias, which brought her comfort and happiness.

Gabrielle leaves to cherish her memory her beloved and only child, Rachelle Medy Buissereth; her loving mother, Paulette Buissereth; her sisters, her brothers,; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we celebrate a beautiful life, fully and meaningfully lived, as she always did, on her own terms.
