Juliana Philippe

Juliana Philippe was born on February 12, 1959 in Desdunes, Haiti by her parents, Adee Jean Louis and Dieucius Celony. She grew up with her brothers Etienne Celony, Pierre Louis Celony, Dieunord Celony, Dieumitry Celony and sisters Marie Therese, Rose Celony, Melina Celony. At the age of 26 she met her soon to be husband, Lucner Philippe. Shortly after the couple gave birth to a son, Lucner Philippe Jr., In hopes of building a better future for her family she followed her love to Miami, Florida. From there they then decided to move to New Jersey.

Juliana became determined to work hard and save money to build the future that she dreamt of. Shortly after settling in New Jersey, she became pregnant and gave birth to her daughter, Lyne. 15 years later she was finally able to work with her husband to bring her oldest son to the states. After years of working over time and saving her money she was able to buy her first house in East Orange and pay for their children’s education at catholic schools. A few years later they were able to buy another house and move to Maplewood.

Juliana’s passion for cooking grew, she was always complimented for her cooking by family and friends. She then decided to follow her dream and open a restaurant in Irvington, “Juliana’s Place”. Through her business, she touched the community with her food and kind heart. After 10 years of serving her community she became ill. she was unable to continue the one thing she loved, cook for the people she loved.

On August 23, 2020 at Alaris Health Care in Irvington NJ, Juliana was called home to be with the lord.
