Johanne Barthelemy Obituary

Born in Port-au-Prince Haiti, on August 10, 1991, Johanne Lataviah Barthelemy was the only daughter of Serge Barthelemy and Erika Pujolls. Johanne left Haiti at the age of 14 to go stay in the US with her father Serge, a hardworking man who raised his only daughter in a disciplined way. He was her daughter’s best friend and he pushed her in so many ways to be that successful an accomplished woman which she was.

Johanne completed her classes at 18 then, decided to pursue her bachelors at Centenary College where she majored in accounting and mathematics, she met her mentor, Professor Terisci. She was the president of her Society Club KME (Kappa Mu Epsilon) and went on to receive multiple scholarships from her school. She then quickly realizes her love for education and mathematics then went on to get her master’s from Rutgers New Brunswick. Johanne was currently in the process to get her PHD from the same school.

She started her carrier three 3 years ago at the Irvington High School where she was working as a Life Skills Coordinator. She had stolen the hearts of the students at Irvington High School where they used to bombard her office everyday wanting for her help (and only her help) for various reasons. In parallel, she was a Mathematics Professor in Bloomfield University. She was overly excited and proud to start her career; you could tell by the way she would help her students.

Johanne is known for her love towards her family, friends and collogues. She was respectful to everyone regardless of age or status. She was always a jovial person who, will always receive you with a joke while wearing a big smile and with every opportunity she finds, she will have you laughing. Without effort, she is often the main reason why her social groups are having a good time. She was very adaptable to her surroundings whatever the circumstances. She was also loved by many; and went above and beyond for everyone in her life without ever expecting anything in return.

Johanne loved travelling, where she had made many new friends and most importantly have expanded the social group of her friends. From there she met the love of her life, Crawford who she was proud of and at every given chance she will show her love, commitment, and affection.  She loved all the beautiful things that life could offer, like good food, good music, laughing, above all she loved God.

On September 28, 2020 Johanne passed away, leaving her friends and family with so many questions but above all with sadness, anger and regrets.

Johanne you had a delightful soul, we will not remember you with tears and sadness, but with laughter because the memories you left us with are the funniest, the sweetest. This is one of, if not the hardest thing we have to deal with, but I know you would want us all to be strong and positive and keep the good times. However, this will take a lot to carry on without you, but we will for your sake. You will always be loved, remembered, and thanked for all you have done in the lives of the people who knows you.

Jo we need justice, we trust in God to help us to find the answers to the questions that keeps on pounding our minds about how you left us. May your soul rest in peace as your memories lives on with us all.

We will always love you.

Rest In Peace

Rest In Love

Rest In Power
