Edwine Martillus went home to the Lord on July 10, 2021. Edwine was born on November 29, 1965, in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti Mona Belotte and Saint Jacques Almonor. She grew up in Port-Au-Prince and attended Thomas Madiou public school. After high school, she enrolled in an all-girls private school where she learned to sew and design women clothes. In 1988 she married Jacques Martilus. In 1991 she moved to the United States to be reunited with her husband, to have two children Gloria and Jerwin, they settled in Irvington until her passing.
Edwine loved to spend time alone and enjoyed listening to music. Her greatest love was her family, especially her children. She worked very hard as a home health aide to provide for her family until she was not able to do so. The words I would use to describe her is someone who was unintentionally funny, strong spirited, while being nurturing to her family, even while ill.
Edwine was preceded in death by her parents, Mona Belotte and Saint Jacques Almonor. She is survived by her husband Jacques Martilus, her daughter, Gloria Martillus and her son, Jerwin Martilus of Irvington, her sisters Myrtha Almonor, Rosenie Almonor, Marie Titus, Shelley Titus, Nathalie Titus, Carline Thermitus, her brothers Francis Almonor, Harrison Almonor, Patrick Almonor, Michael Almonor, and Johnny Titus.
Edwine was a very devoted believer, she exemplified Christ every day of her life. She committed her life to Christ during her entire life. In New Jersey, in 1999, Edwine became a faithful member of The First Haitian Baptist Church/ Première Eglise Baptiste Haitienne in Irvington, New Jersey; led by the late pastor, Adelaire Jean Baptiste.
